The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce is setting the holiday mood with a one-day shopping event that’s newly open to everyone. The Bliss Holiday Market arrives at Avante Banquets in Fox River Grove on Thursday, November 20, 2025, welcoming shoppers from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market, long popular with Chamber insiders, is open to the public for the first time and will gather nearly 30 vendors under one roof at 1050 Northwest Highway. Admission is free.

A One-Day Market for Shoppers

Designed as a light-lift midday outing, Bliss Holiday Market offers a concentrated window to browse and buy — with beverages available for purchase and a cash bar running throughout the afternoon. Hosted by the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce and its Women’s Biz Net (WBN), the event aims to make holiday errands feel more like a seasonal celebration than a checklist.

Shoppers can expect a curated mix of giftable finds, including:

  • Holiday décor and handmade gifts
  • Treats and specialty foods
  • Jewelry and art
  • Apparel and accessories

The appeal is convenience as much as discovery: a range of local businesses and specialty vendors in one festive space, and an early chance to knock out a chunk of the gift list while supporting nearby entrepreneurs.

Why “Shop Local” Is the Point

For Chamber leaders, the marketplace is part retail moment, part civic message — keep holiday spending close to home. As Suzanne Corr, President/CEO of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce, put it: “shopping local supports the small businesses, and you need shops that create character in your community. They’re adding local jobs to your community. They’re also adding the gathering spaces that bring families together and enhance the quality of life in your community. Small businesses are owned and operated by local families who live, work and invest here. They’re involved here, they raise their kids here, they pay their taxes here supporting infrastructure and schools in your community,” said Suzanne Corr, President/CEO, according to Barrington Hills Observer.

Fox River Grove’s profile suggests a community ready to respond to that pitch. The village counted about 4,700 residents in 2020 across roughly 1.71 square miles, giving it a small-town scale where neighborhood shopping can resonate, according to Wikipedia. Economic indicators also point to solid consumer footing: the median household income sits around $125,104, with a median property value of about $289,200, a low poverty rate of roughly 2.87%, and homeownership near 85.7%, data from DataUSA shows.

A Chamber With Event Chops

The Bliss Holiday Market is the latest entry in a busy calendar for an organization accustomed to convening crowds. Founded in 1969, the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce says it represents more than 800 member businesses across 11 regional communities and regularly produces community-facing publications and programming to connect residents with local commerce, according to the Chamber’s overview page Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce.

Its signature slate has included TasteFest, the Family Expo, and seasonal crawls that fuse social time with storefront exposure, as outlined on the Chamber’s events page Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce. This past summer’s free Barrington Family Expo at Citizens Park brought together nearly 50 booths highlighting local vendors, music, and community resources and drew hundreds of attendees, the kind of turnout that underscores the Chamber’s reach, the Daily Herald reported. Another format, the Bourbon & Brew Crawl, blended tastings with downtown shopping and live music to encourage foot traffic and merchant discovery, according to a Chamber announcement Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce.
